High-altitude vegetation is known to have special characteristics to survive harsh climate. They are usually quite small in size and grow in clusters. But the Himalayan Giant Glasshouse Plant is different. It takes about seven years to grow its leaves into full size. Then the eighth summer, all of a sudden it shoots up resembling a huge Buddhist pagoda. Its translucent bracts create a glasshouse effect to preserve the species.
